Paula Machado, HR Director at The Light Rebar Company®believes that humanizing Human Resources is essential. Close leadership, responsibility, and commitment promote well-being, development, and appreciation of people, strengthening the industry and balancing technology, productivity, and sustainable growth.
I’m Paula Machado, from Guimarães, married and the mother of two children. I graduated in Accounting from ESEIG-IPP and, throughout my academic career, I’ve had experiences that have strengthened my sense of belonging, team spirit and closeness to people.
I began my professional life as a certified accountant, always with a strong link to Human Resources, where I found my true purpose from an early age.
Today, Human Resources is much more than a function – it’s my day-to-day life, my commitment and my way of being. I work with people and for people, believing in close, humane and responsible leadership, where the company’s growth goes hand in hand with the development of those who build it every day.
As Human Resources Director at The Light Rebar deeply believe that the future of our company – and of the industry in general – is not only built with technology, automation or digitalization. It is built, above all, with people. In a context of accelerated transformation, it is they who continue to make the difference, guaranteeing quality, safety, innovation and sustainability.
At The Light Rebar, we are guided by three fundamental values: Leadership, Responsibility and Commitment. These principles guide the way we approach people management and reinforce our conviction that humanizing Human Resources is not an option, but an essential strategy for the future.
The industry of the future will inevitably be more technological. However, it will continue to depend on the human factor. Humanizing HR means finding the balance between operational efficiency and the well-being, safety and development of our teams.
In practice, this means creating an environment where every employee feels respected, listened to and valued, regardless of their role, experience or work shift. In an industrial context, marked by physical demands, pressure for productivity and the growing need for specialized technical skills, this challenge becomes even more relevant.
For me, leadership is the foundation of any truly humanized human resources strategy. At The Light Rebar, our leaders are and do things differently: they are human, close and conscious leaders who go beyond simply managing processes. They are present on a daily basis, they know their teams, they listen carefully and lead by example, building relationships of trust and environments where each person feels valued and respected.
This way of leading translates into clear and consistent practices:
– Communicate clearly and transparently
– Be present in the field and available to listen
– Inspire by example and consistency
– Promote a climate of trust and psychological security
Truly humanized leadership creates teams that are more resilient, more motivated and better prepared to face the challenges of a constantly evolving industrial sector with confidence.
At The Light Rebar, we understand responsibility as something that goes far beyond legal compliance. It means making a real, daily commitment to:
We believe that truly responsible companies recognize that people’s well-being is directly linked to quality of work, productivity and business sustainability.
The future of the industry will require constant adaptation, continuous learning and new skills. Our commitment to people is reflected in:
When the company consistently demonstrates a commitment to the development of its people, they respond with greater involvement, loyalty and a strong sense of belonging.
The shortage of talent, technological adaptation, generational diversity and the balance between productivity and well-being are some of the major challenges that industrial companies face – and will continue to face. At The Light Rebar, we respond to these challenges with more human people management, promoting more inclusive, sustainable and future-oriented organizational cultures.
Humanizing does not mean weakening the industry. On the contrary: it’s strengthening it through people.
Humanizing Human Resources and facing the challenges of the future requires Leadership with vision, Responsibility in decisions and Genuine Commitment to people. At The Light Rebar, we do this by putting people at the heart of every decision, valuing those who build our company every day, investing in their growth and creating an environment where every contribution counts. We lead with proximity, act with responsibility and commit to a future where technology and humanity go hand in hand.
The future will be technological, but at The Light Rebar success will always remain human.
